T5496 - Epson Cartridge Problem

Hi,
We bought a couple Epson (compatible) cartridges last month. We just attempted to the install the first one, but the printer says "wrong cartridge".
Yes - we confirmed it was the correct color. Epson T5496 Light Magenta out, NE-OT503 LM Light Magenta installed.
Suggestions?
